In the foreground, Justice, holding a wreath and a tablet with the word "Constitution," stands beside a statue of George Washington. To her left is the Capitol; to her right, an eagle and various agricultural products. Below is the District motto and the date 1871; above are the words "District of Columbia." BIRD: Wood thrush. FLOWER: American beauty rose. TREE: Scarlet oak. "District of Columbia." Worldmark Encyclopedia of the States. Ed. . 6th ed. Detroit: Gale, 2004. 774-783. Gale Virtual Reference Library. 1 September 2004 Fast Service to District of Columbia I order from you all the time, and now I know why. I have to tell you that I was away on business recently and stopped into a flower shop near the hotel instead of ordering online. I ordered the same arrangement I usually get for each of my six nieces, Irises and white roses, but this time the flowers were not nearly as impressive. I got a call from my sister asking if I didn’t put as much thought into my gift for her daughter this year. I’ll never stray again, I promise!(Dara J., Victorville CA )

For some things, anticipation is part of the fun. Not for flowers. I want them where there supposed to be when I want them there. I commend you on having the great service and efficiency to make sure that happens. I haven't been let down by you yet, and I have high standards. I just wanted you to know that I appreciate what you're doing..(Stacy S., Temple TX )

I'd like to think that I was making my daughter happy when I sent flowers to her on her first day at college, but I really suspected that she was embarrassed by her mother in front of her dorm-mates. It was a little of both, I guess. She called to say that she really enjoyed them, but she asked if it was OK that she told everyone they were from her boyfriend. *sigh* There's only so much a mother can do. (Margo E. , Holland MI )

Is Mother's Day really supposed to be this stressful? I'm glad there is a site like yours where I can really do something useful about Mother's Day, and still feel like I've done something nice for someone else. You've let a little bit of air out of my stress balloon, so for that I am grateful.(Nora L., Iowa City IA )

I'm going through some hard times at this part of my life. But I do not lose faith. If you lose faith, you're giving up, you're telling God that you just can't handle what He's handing you. My family was killed in a house fire a year ago to right now. I decided to commemorate this as a celebration of their lives and how their lives affected mine. My friends, family all came down for it, and I ordered what I consider to be the best flowers in the world -- not for myself, although I will enjoy them, but for my family. This is a celebration, and I'm telling everyone I know that their lives were worth celebrating.(Patricia H., Warner Robins GA )

I love the idea of the vineyard basket! My cousin lives near Napa Valley, so what am I going to do, send her wine? The basket has all the other stuff that goes with wine, and very good stuff I might add. Even the basket itself is lovely.(Holly M. , Rock Hill SC )
